DVD Star or Movie Star?

Have you watched the 26th Hong Kong Film Award Ceremony? I was touched by Eric Tsang's short opening speech. He said that in 2006, more than 100 movie theatres were dismantled because of bankruption. The reason is that fewer and fewer people choose to watch DVDs at home instead of going to big cinemas. Also he said that we called Tony Leung Movie Star not DVD Star to encouge all the people to go to cenima to support Chinese movie industry.

What about your ideas?

A real movie fan will watch movies at theatres, just buy DVD for collecting.
Cos they know movie should be watched at theatres, not home.

I don't think so. Watch the movie at theatre or not is one's own right. Someone like theatre but others not. It's not OUR responsibility to support China movie, Hollywood movie, Euro movie, etc. Plus, many Stars are earning much when shooting Ads. They don't care about movie, but money.

The ticket is also a problem for many people. It's too expensive compare with DVDs. The last time I went to theatre is last year, with my boyfriend. Now, he is my husband and we just watch DVDs at home. lol

I agree with May,go to cinema is not the only way to support Chinese movie industry.It is one's own will to choose go to cinema or buy DVD,
Actually it can get profit also from releasing DVD copies,for those who call on people to go to cinema,mostly they are the beneficiaries.

Well, I should say that I like watching DVDs becasue I do not like the crowd. No one will disturb me when I watch movies at home.
