It does not appear that one can fly directly to Tunxi (TXN) from Shanghai without going through Beijing. I checked the entire week around November 23, and all flights from Shanghai to Tunxi route through Beijing.

Is travel from Shanghai to Tunxi that light during the autumn and winter months? I see direct flights now however.

Sorry, the website in the upstair is a Chinese one. I wonder if it is convenient for you to check it.
Here is a piece of information from TCG. Flight No. 9265 is from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Huangshan Tunxi Airport. The period of validity is from March 29th to October 28th. Flights will possible be available in winter months but not everyday.

Maybe you can take the train. It's cheaper and easier to get tickets. Only 12 hours and you can save one night's accommodation

Yes, I am still learning Chinese, so I cannot understand everything on the website. Also, I could find flights that leave Shanghai everyday but not in November. For example, in May Shanghai Airlines appears to fly daily. Perhaps the idea of a soft sleeper train is a good one. 谢谢

The current flight schedule you find is valid from May to October. the schedule will be updated from November 1st. That's why you can not find any info on the flight in Nov.

In China, the flight schedule from May to October and November to next February is different, namely they are summer schedule and winter schedule.

I guess there would be flight between Huangshan and Shanghai duiring the winter time, but may be not daily.

Catherine,
Thank you for your reply. It is sort of confusing that you can find flights between Shanghai and TXN via Beijing but not direct. Apparently, some flight schedules don't change and some do. Interesting.

There're definitely direct flights as well as the overnight train from Shanghai to Tunxi. There're also buses.

Only 2 trains daily and one arrives at Tunxi in the middle of the night so I don't recommend that one.
