![]() | Those students who can not pass CET 4, a English test can not graduate from the universities. Now, a new rule has been made. In Beijing University, the students who can not pass Chinese will not be permitted to graduate. The Ministry of Education requires that all the universities should open Chinese for the students. Such as Beijing University, Qinghua University, Nankai University have set Chinese as the compulsory course. Learning Chinese has become popular in the world. However, Chinese people, especially the young people can not master their mother tongue very well. English had been attached much importance while Chinese is ignored. Daudet wrote in the Last Lesson that French is the most beautiful language in the world. Actually, Every nation's native language is the most beautiful language. Hope college students can pay much attention on Chinese and improve their Chinese. |

![]() | I think maybe its a little harsh but you have to consider that by the time someone is at university they should know their own language. In UK we have far too many people leaving schools who can not read and write properly and it is a worry for the future. I am a manager and when I looking for new staff I can see from their applications that they do not have the basic skills required. The standards are slipping. |

![]() | It depends what is in the courses. Is it literature etc or using the language in good solid ways to communicate? Thelatter is important whatever the language...but literatiure.... if it's like learning Shakespear.... forget it!! |

![]() | I think the Chinese learning should have been pressed before the university education. I think the university education focus more on one's speciality and one has already independant enough to choose what he wants, so the compulsive measures are not very reasonable. For the Chinese Learning, it should be our basic masters and can be compelled before the university education, when the students may not realise its importance. I think it is more resonable to do as this. |
