Scott. You cannot get a working visa (Z) for more than 1 year at the time. If you have a degree or serious teaching experience you should have no probelm getting a job even though Baoding is not a very large city, and with that, the employer will supply the documentation for you to get a Z visa. When you arrive that will be converted into a residence permit. It is renewable annually. If you want to change employer then to minimise problems, get the job arranged and the 'transfer agreed' before the residence permit expires. If a prospective employer cannot supply the doco for a Z visa find another employer. Go to the travel forums:visas and search on work visa, z visa and you will find a lot more posts.
