planning to join 27 day tour ex melbourne to China in either early Feb or March 2008.

because of New Year what would you advise - should i expect most things closed for six days of new year or will the local people be enjoying a holiday as well so places may be "fuller" than usual.

would appreciate your guidance in this area.

Both Feb and March are good, but try try try not to travel within a few days of the beginning and end of Spring Festival. Millions upon millions of people will be doing the same thing as you, so bus and train stations will be difficult places, to say the least. But, yes, come to China; you will have a great time here.

Come in March, avoid Spring festival and you'll have a more pleasant time and weather will be a littel warmer too.
