I want to buy a laptop just for browsing the net and doing my English lesson plans. Can anyone tell me what prices these start at please?

New ones are around the same price as you would pay in your own country. There you can be sure that you will get what you pay for. You can pick up very cheap second hand ones here but I it is hit or miss and would recommend that you take someone with you who knows about computers and who can deal for you.

Yes, I agree with Jabaroo. The amount you might save is not sufficient to offset the risk of no warranty once you leave.
