Hi, Chinadoll!
Because Nan an is very near to Quanzhou, just a neighbour of Quanzhou, you can take long-distance bus to Quanzhou, every 5 minutes one bus.
As Quanzhou is a small town the majority of its sights can be reached on foot. The Kaiyuan Temple is the most impressive: Founded in the seventh century it is one of the largest Buddhist buildings in China. Its pair of pagodas are the symbol of the city. And the Qingyuan Mount Scenic Area, 3 km to the north of the town, offers a good hiking route, there you will find Laojun Rock, the biggest Taoist Sculpture in China.

or you can take long-distance bus to Xianmen, a picturesque coastal city in southeast China, earning itself the nickname 'Pearl on the East China Sea'. It is a little bit farther than Quanzhou, but it deserves! About every 30 minutes one bus, the 1st bus leaves at 6:20 am.

There are a great variety of sights and sounds to witness in Xiamen, and this makes it probably the most exciting of the towns and cities in the whole of Fujian.
The mainland is perhaps not as exciting as its sea encircled neighbour, but it does make a good go of it. In Wanshiyan, you may be struck by the beauty of the Tiger Stream Rock and the White Deer Cave. If you are fascinated by Buddhism, Nanputuo Temple is definitely a place not to miss, for it is arguably one of the most important temples around this region, both in terms of its grandiose architectural style and its large collection of Buddhist volumes.
Gulangyu Island, the most beautiful island near Xiamen, has won great renown for its Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Garden. It is a great place to explore and, since it has an area of only two square kilometers, is easy to get around.

And from Xiamen, it is very easy and convenient to get the ferry to Hong Kong.
Xiamen - Hong Kong 1500 0900 EveryMon, Wed, Thu, Sat to China Hong Kong City Pier

Hope it can help:D

Hi, Chinadoll!
Quanzhou and NAN AN you mentioned are two cities of Fujian Provinces.
If want to Quanzhou from NAN AN, you also can take a taxi, and about 20 minutes at most.
From Quanzhou to Xiamen, it would take about one hour and a half, and RMB 20-30. The last bus leaves about 20:40 pm.

>what do you mean by hongkong-xiamen-hongkong ferry 1500 0900?

It means the ferry departs Xianmen at 15:00 pm, and reaches Hong Kong at 9:00 am next morning.

You could take a taxi from the airport to Tongan bus station (同安车站), then take a bus to Nan an(about 1.5 -2.5 hours).

Songbai Bus station is better. You could take Xiamen-An special line and get off at Nanan. THere are many of it, like a public bus. The estimated ticket is rmb30. Not clear there are discount for kids.

There is no direct bus from Xiamen airport to Songbai Long-distance bus station. You'd better take a taxi, about 15 minutes and 8 kilometers.

You can go to Songbai bus station to take a bus and it takes you about one and a half hours to get to Nan'an. And the tickets cost about RMB30. The bus is safe most of the times and quite convienient.
