(i'm expecting to travel ultra light, possible even without backpack) what whould i need on forehand? - VISA... Questions: what is te weather (temp and rain) in july in china? (north / middle) is it ok to go from beijing to tibet and back in 30 days without being in a huge rush? (since i don't have the info to plan everything here i would need atleast 1 day over at every stop to work out the next step) I've been in thailand twice but expect china to be way more difficult to travel around...... |

![]() | Aug and Sep are rather hot in China, but it's gold season to Tibet. Climate, tempreture and oxygenous capacity are all proper. It's also possible to meet Shoton festival which is in Tibetan calendar 1st July. Recommend set from Beijng to Lhasa by train. You can view beautiful scencs alongside including Hoh Xil. The train run 47.5 hours and ticket price for hard seat, hard berth and soft berth are 389, 813 and 1262rmb respectively. A month is enough for a Tibet trip. Prepare : 1. sunblock measure against ultraviolet radiation 2. some medicines in case altitude sickness 3. a coat for temperature different from morning to evening and rainwear 4. sugars and small gifts such as pencils for children when you visiting locals, you'll be more popular. But do not give money to children beggars especilly near resorts, if you give one, you'll be surounded by a group. oh...Visa maybe not so convinient except Lahsa. But generally speaking, tourists will eager to travel circumjacent counties in their Lahsa trip. |

![]() | I would suggest that you will need more than 1 day at each stop as it takes quite a lot of time to find out where things are. Also you are likely to have problems with train bookings unless you book several days ahead. Buses are not such a problem but there are often several bus stations in each city, even small ones. It takes time tio sort out where to catch buses from unless you speak or read Chinese. I don't favour sweets etc for kids, it is I believe rather patronising and anyway ruins their teeth which their normal diet doesn't. Instead, why not smile and say hello, if you have time tell them your name and where you are from, show an interest in them. They will be happy with that. |
