![]() | Source: Xinhua News A communications satellite for radio, TV broadcasting was launched by a Long March 3A carrier rocket on June 1 in Xichang, Sichuang Province. Its name is "SinoSat-3" and was made by China Academy of Space Technology. The SinoSat-2 was launched on Oct. 29 last year. A month later, its solar panels could not deploy and communication antennae and was deemed inoperable. SinoSat-3 has been developed with some technical upgrades to prevent such accidents. Whether it will take parts of SinoSat-2's service is not clear. SinoSat 1 was launched in 1998 and was bought from France for China's radio and TV broadcast and communications services in the Asia-Pacific Region. This is 100th flight of Long March series since the launch of Dongfanghong satellite in 1970. Congratulations! ![]() |
