Today I travelled on one of the new high speed trains (D numbers). Wehad a separate area of the waiting room, special staff attending and we lined up on the platform in a very civilised way. The train was on time. Inside the train was superb, as good or better than many planes. The non smoking was enforced. If you can afford it, I recommend it. If you can more than afford it, the first class carriage was even better, the seats are enormous.

Agreed. I took the train from Xi'An to Bao Ji and back, and found the train to be very clean, with huge seats and lots and lots of leg room. And while it cost about 4 times as much as a regular train, it was worth every penny.

Are the routes for the D trains available some where? I've planned my trip with air travel between cities because the regular trains are so terribly slow when you have only a few days in China. It would be nice to see the routes and the fares.

Hi I also just read about the D trains. I dont know how to find a compiled list of them, but you can just search for "any" two destinations, and it will come up with all trains connecting, and train numbers, so I guess you will just see if the list has any D marked trains. This site also offers you to browse for a number of train, and I tried to search for "D*" or "D?" but it seems no wildcards work. I also searched for "D27" and it came right up with the find, a train between Beijing and Harbin. So it only takes the Exact Train numbers, but you can try from D1 - D100 :) if you have the patience. I will post back if I find anything, This is the site I was referring to above: http://www.chinahighlights.com/ Ben

The ticket price of "D" train is normally pretty higher than common train and with no soft sleeper provided. It is not too good to take "D" train if you have an overnight staying on it. Best wishes to your tour in China !

Sorry for asking, but is this SPAM you are doing? I have seen your almost identical post at the end of multiple threads now. On a side-note, I will also use their services I think, as it looks pretty good. Ben

The D trains are great. I have done several trips Jinan to Qingdao since they started. Most of these trips would have meant an overnight stay if travelling on the old trains, so I think the new service is cheaper. No hotel costs. But where has it gone from this site? Its not mentioned in the timetable now.
