Since 2002, CCTV has been holding a great programm 'Touching China' It selects ten most China Moved persons in the previous year.

These selected ones always come from all walks of life, from ordinaries to politicians, to sports or amusement stars. Anyone who has made moving behaviors out of common to someone else will become the candidates.

In this way, some ordanary but great people will be known to all.

I am just wondering whether there is such a similar program in other countries???

Yes, we have such things here in America. In many localities, the TV new stations do feature stories periodically on "hometown heroes." These are ordinary people who perform some noteworthy act of kindness to help others.

Also, Time Magazine puts the "person of the year" on their cover every year. Usually it is a famous politician who has had great influence (good or bad) on American society. Sometimes, the person is a prominent figure in another country who is having a profound effect on America.

There are probably more examples, but I can't think of them right now.
