"The U.S. initiatives on climate protections are very welcome to us, under the condition that they are channeled into the framework of the U.N. program" said merkel at a press conference. President Bush has long been under attack for his refusal of signing the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. But this time it is good to see Bush take a little bit positive stand. Last Thursday, President Bush proposed the 15 biggest greenhouse emitting countries to convene and set an emission goal. Rarely, Bush can take such a long-term perspective. Congratulations, President Bush is becoming mature!
