To get to Fuzhou, should I go to HongKong or Shanghai?

I need to get to Fuzhou in December. Does anyone know if it would be better to fly to Shanghai or to Hong Kong? I am a female and will be travelling on my own from Australia. Any suggestions?

Shanghai is the most developed city in mainland China, why not have a visit?
Hong Kong is no doubt a shopping paradise, worth a vist too.

And the transportation is quite convenient.From Fuzhou Changle Airport to Shanghai will just cost you less than one hour, and to Hong Kong one hour and a half is enough! : P

Thank you. I think I will fly into Shanghai and spend a few days. Any suggestions of where to stay? I would like somewhere a bit cheap and am quite adventurous. I have been to Shanghai before.
