Recently, the vice Premier Wu Yi led a delegation to US for the second round of China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED). People may hear of her from the news. However, they may not know her. She is famed as the iron lady of China. In March 2003, Wu Yi was appointed as the vice Premier of China.

Most of people got to know her in 2003 because of SARS. At that time, she was the commander in chief to fight with SARS. Also in that year, she was appointed as the minister of the Ministry of Health of China. In February 2004, she was appointed as the director of committee to fight with AIDS under the leading of State of Council.

In 2002, she was elected as one of the 20 most influential persons in Fortune. In 2005, she was elected as one of the top 10 most powerful women in the world in Forbes. One journalist from Forbes said that Wu Yi was proud, elegant and intelligent. She played an important role in handling the frictions between Sino-US trades, China’s access to WTO and the problem of China IPR…..

How do you think of this great woman leader of China? Glad to hear your opinions.

Wu Yi is a very independent, intelligent, and insightful lady, and she is also a good diplomat. It is said that she did an excellent job in the negotiation with Britain on the issue of resuming sovereignty over Hong Kong.
