On May 20th, a tiger keeper in the Dragon and Tiger Park in Sanya was bitten to death when he was cleaning the cage of the tiger. On May 18th, an orang escaped from the cage and attacked people. Four people got hurt. On April 20th, four pupils entered the crocodile pool to tease the crocodiles. One of them was dragged into the pool and eaten by the crocodile. Not only the ferocious crocodiles attack people but also the lovely giant panda bite people too.

Such tragedies happen a lot. Why do those animals attack human beings? They have been tamed by humans. People should think about this problem seriously.

People blame those tragedies to the related staff’s carelessness and those ferocious animals. They killed the crocodiles that had eaten a pupil. Shouldn’t we blame ourselves? We should really think about how do get along with those animals. They are not our ‘dolls’. Those tigers, lions, monkeys etc are put into the cages so that human beings can appreciate them. In fact, humans are cruel. If you are put in a cage and appreciated by others, how is your feeling? We should ‘respect’ them and treat them kindly.

The animals you mention are all wild animals. You cannot tame a crocodile; and no matter how tame a tiger or panda might appear to be, they are always wild.

I am not fond of zoos. No matter how good the intentions of the animal keepers, the animals are caged in an unnatural environment.

Seeing animals in a zoo is nothing like seeing animals in the wild.

I agree, there is no way animals like this are tame or able to be tamed. Zoos are usually just so that most of us can see unusual animals that we may otherwise never see, but at the expence of the animals freedom. Some zoos do a very good job, such as Marwell zoo near where I live in UK, they breed rare and endangered species then release them back to the wild. Animals should be free to live in their environment not behind cages, if we want to see them then there is always discovery channel.

Hi

People have got to realise that these creatures are wild animals before being put in enclosures. They should respect the animals and if they enter the animal envireonment they have to realise that the animal will behave naturally to its perceived danger. This may end in human tragedy but if a wild animal starays into the human envireonment it usually gets killed, why be surprised when it happens the other way around! We humans have got to remember we are not masters of the universe, nature always comes out on top

Yes, Donhfraser. Humans are the most intellegent and powerful creature on the earth. But we should not be so cruel to those animals. Just imagine, if we were the animals and were hunted by other creatures, how is your feeling?

GUESTANIMAL ... I think that we should let these animals live in the wild. I know that people wont be able to see all of the foreign animals, but if the animals' life is better, shouldn't we let it be that way? I feel like humans have made the lives of animals a lot worse than they would be, even if these animals didn't have such a great life to begin with. Sometimes I feel really bad about this. I "own" a horse. She is a lovely little girl, and i feel that, in some ways, i have made her "man-made" life better than it was. I have good intentions, and I have the money to make sure that she is OK, but sometimes I feel like maybe she doesn't belong with me. Does she? And what about dogs? cats? other pets? so they really belong to and with us? The thing that makes me the MOST mad is when people are breeding dogs and cats when there are perfectly wonderful ones out there who don't have an appropriate home. Thanks for reading what I have to say.

GUEST36178 on the contrary, these animals could very well be extinct in not for the safety of zoos.

Maybe the animals are enjoying the same as we do when we eat them! Cows and chickens are very tasty

GUEST52209 Its a pity humans became so greedy. If we had to take from nature to suffice our hunger and immediate needs, we would not have had the problem of endangered or extinct animals, rapid deforestation, depleted oceans and global warming. I agree that we are an intelligent species, but are we really more intelligent than the animals? They know the importance of balance. A very important thing we as the "intelligent species" have forgotten. All we want is more, but the end of the day, are we getting more? We are destroying the planet to such an extent that one day, in a few years or decades, will the be anything left for the future generations? Its a sad reality that we all need to face.
