Three mums celebrating their 50th birthdays have 10 days in China. We want to go to Bejing, Xian and Shanghai(for the shopping). Any advise or help anyone can give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a premise for a comedy movie. You post made me chuckle. ;)

I sure someone here will have good suggestions though....

I like the Silk Market in Beijing. It is fun and a great place to bargain for a great deal! When you get tired of shopping, you can go down to the basement and get food from one of the many stalls. After that, you can go back upstairs and do more shopping! What is the pinyin or Chinese characters for Silk Market? Thank you.

Ellen, I think Chinese version of Silk Market should be "秀水街" . It enjoys a high favor among foreigners.
Rick, Are you sure it is called"Silk Market"? I went to Beijing last year and I find the characters on the building are "Silk Street". The new silk street is not a street after the reconstruction, , but actually a grand shopping mall.

We don't want to buy anything in particular but we all have teenage children who are into "brand names". so any help with surf brand copies would be good. However we mainly want to have a good time and see as much as possible in a short time.
