i've also heard that the british tried to starve people out in southern china by infesting the rice paddies with snails. didn't work, since people just ate the snails too.

there are some places here in chicago that sell oaxacan-style crickets and cicadas. i'd try that, or scorpion if somebody would tell me how to eat them.
not centipede though. that just looks too terrible.
