Nowadays, there are apartment rent to many people, for example, 10~15 people in an 100 sq m apartment. Recently a tenant sued the manager of her apartment because they asked her not to rent the apartment to others in Shanghai. The tenant said it's her right to share with others. But the manager said this situation badly impacted others' lives since there are so many people living in one apartment.

What's more, there might be security problems too. The court reject the tenant and local government are preparing new rules to restrict this kind of lessee.

Is this really a bad thing to stop the share?? What should they do if they can't afford a bigger house?

If Government makes law to oppose the sharing, people will pray to Govt. to make small houses for small living people.

Yes, LionPower, I agree. Build more small houses is the best solution.

Why can't the tenant share/sub-tenant his apartment out ? It all depends on the agreement between the owner/main tenant.
But why shouldn't anyone share an apartment with others ? Why must one stay on his own. If one can afford, it is very fine. If not, what do you expect him to do ?
MirandaZhao must be borne rich and/or is rich enough to live in an apartment of her own.
I don't mind sharing my apartment.

You can do whatever you want with your flat as soon as you are not conducting forbidden experiments in it haha. Everything must be in the contract but you have a large range of possibilities. In France though, you cannot rent a flat sharing it if at least you don't have 10m² by person (this is the legal minimum).

GUEST81167 Since there are various kinds of purchases of property throughout the World each having different considerations and obligations between owners of apartments and building management consider the following first:
The costs of heat, elevator electricity, hot water and the maintainance of common areas is shared by all owners. 15 people using showers and baths is far different from family use under which most sales are made.
Most people buy an apartment as their home. Should they be sharing thier building with strangers who come and go without knowing anything about their reputation, character and morals?
Should they be subjected to additional noise or wild parties by vacationers who have no financial interest in the property? Again, especially when all tenants bear the cost of repairs to common property.
Ownership of property is relatively new in China so some of these questions seem to have no precedent answer. However, most countries and cities in the Western World have very strict laws governing the use of property-(what one can and cannot do with their property) particularly when it impacts on others.
When people want to buy property to run as a business, or for rental, it is usually in the contract of sale. So, if you see that unrestricted subletting, rental, or any business venture is permitted, and you want a home DON'T BUY IN THAT BUILDING. You never know who your daily neighbors will be and the value of the investment may well be reduced for resale purposes. People who just want to make money have no right to indiscriminately run a rental operation unless expressley permitted.

Hi everyone.
I belive that a tenant should be allowed to share a property within reason! If you own or rent a property you should be allowed to do what you want in it, as long as it does not impare health and safety for other members of the public.
