Buy House or Build it by Yourself?

I saw a post in other bbs recently that a Chinese man who's working in NZ built his own house. I just admire him so much. They can build their own house in their own way!! That's so wonderful. However, here in China, it's hard for people to build houses by themselves.

Is it a common thing in your homeland that you can build your own house? Will you choose to buy one or build one?

Maybe we can buy a piece of land in the rural area and then to build our own house. But there is a problem. If you are working in the city, it is very inconvenient to live in the rural area. To build a house in the city is impossible. It may cost more than buying a house.

Have you been to the rural areas in China? Those farmers build houses by their own. I believe that most of poeple who live in the city admire those farmers.

California, you can build a house by yourself in countryside. Of course, you should firstly buy the land.
