You could take a bus from Guilin to Congjiang or Rongjiang and next day travel to Guiyang from either of these cities.

Roads can be bad so travel is not always as fast as it could be but the trip has interesting scenery all the way.

Not sure but estimate about 6 hours travel each day give or take one or two and wouldn't be more than Y100 for each days travel

We did Kaili to Congjiang in one day. Actually we had to get into Kaili from a small village about an hour away and were lucky to make an immediate connection in Kaili so add that to rest of the days travel and you can see that it is not too long a stretch.
And that was with a change of bus in Rongjiang about mid afternoon because we didn't want to stop there.
We spent the night in Congjiang (we detoured north to Zhaoxing for a few days before stopping in Sanjiang) and from there it is an easy trip to Guilin

Several days later we bused from Sanjiang to Yangshou with a change of bus in Guilin. Again an easy days travel.
In fact we left Sanjiang after lunch following a morning of sightseeing around the nearby Wind and Rain bridge.

Relax !!!! It's a comfortable two day road trip or as Ellyse has said the train would do.

HALILEE Points: Join Date: Jun 29, 2010 Status: Offline	Sorry to revive an old thread here. Ellyse, is that train schedule from Jishuo to Sanjiang and Huaihua to Sanjiang still the same or have they changed/added more since then? Thank you!

Sorry, I checked the latest train schedule and found out there was no direct train from Jishou to Sanjiang or Huaihua to Sanjiang. You need to transfer at Zunyi(遵义).

Looks like we'll probably go from Zhangjiajie to Sanjiang by train at this point in time now. :) It looks like there might be 2 trains for this route: the 2011- depart 17:38 arrive 1:08 or 1473 - depart 18:30 arrive 1:34 Of those, which is the better class of train? More comfortable? The better choice in general? Thanks again!!

ELLYSE Points: Join Date: Oct 30, 2005 Status: Offline	I don't think the 1473 departure is valid. The only one I know of is the 2011, so you don't have a choice either way.
