Zhengzhou attractions? Advice

Hi, I am traveling to ZhengZhou to stay with my friends family! Due to my friend having problems with his visa application in this country (UK) my travel plans has changed and he will no longer be traveling with me but I will still be staying with his family. They do not speak much English my Mandarin currently consists of 2 or 3 words! Was hoping someone could tell me or advise me as to what there is to see and do in Zhengzhou? I will be there for 5-7 Days before I go to explore other parts of China!

Hi Stilts, Zhengzhou is a wonderful place to see really. I think the famous attractions that you should not be missed in Yellow River, Shaolin Temple, and Song Mountain. If you have time, you can also visit Luoyang City in Henan, the 'City of Penoy', and Kaifang, also one of the ancient capital cities of China.

If you're going to be only in Zhengzhou then I think you'll be bored to death after max of 2-3 days. However, it's a good base for you to visit Kaifeng (2 days), Shaolin Temple and Dengfeng (2 days) as well as Luoyang (2 days).
