After seeing those pictures, do you think it is beauty or cruelty? Acutually those women live in the north of Thailand. You can see them in Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province.

Big holes in the ears are just like the small holes most women have for wearing beautiful earrings, as long as they do not feel continual pain, so if it is not curel to pierce holes in our ears, this makes no difference. As for beauty or not, opinions may differ, i don't feel that bad. Their ancestors may be normadic, many normad had the habit of "wearing" their assets instead of building beautiful houses or store their fortune somewhere.

Yes, Rita. For us, we may take it as cruelty. For them, they regard it as beauty. Their ancestors did it so that they followed the tradition. Just like those customs in the ehnic groups, we should respect and understand them.

Their ancestors are Normad? Maybe. Quite interesting.

If we able to develop a knowledge to the women's wearing weighted earring not to good for health and beauty. I guess they will leave these.
Problem of understanding and knowledge.

We have no right to say whether it's good or not.

A lot of women's beauty rituals and clothing can be considered cruel:

1) high heel shoes (they always hurt and deform women's feet)
2) waxing, shaving, plucking hairs
3) underwire bras
4) pantyhose
5) dieting or having an eating disorder

I'm not sure why women do these things, except to look beautiful and thus get and keep a man's love.

i don't like all that stuff, to me it is not atractive at all.
but if they the woman from this of group people like's it, i think it is ok.
long as they are not force to do it, or carry on their bodies by other people. (no physical or mental force).

It is their tradition and custom. We should respect them.
