Hello, I live in the US and recently accepted a 6 mo. consulting assignment and will be working in Shenzhen. I am researching air travel options am wondering how feasible it is to fly into Hong Kong, then take the train to Shenzhen. I will be using a multiple entry visa. Thanks in advance for any help/tips. Regards,

Yes, you can take the train at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station to Lo Wu Station, and then cross the Lo Wu Pass.

I always fly to Hong Kong and then travel inland by train, you should have no problem getting train to Shenzhen.

well, if you are flying in to Hong Kong, catching the airport ferry to commute to Shenzhen will be a better option. You can catch Shezhen ferry to Shekou, or, Fuyong. catching the KCR western Rail will mean that you wil have to come to Kowloon island from lantou(Airport island) which is time consuming. but if you wannna do it, catch AIRPORT EXPRESS from airport terminal to Kowloon central

many ways to get into Shenzhen, and via different entry points, depending whether you stop in HK downtown: -HK is easy to travel, the airport line (30 mintues to downtown), metro and suburban train connecting to Lowu/Shenzhen (30 minutes from downtown) are interchangeable everywhere -buses from HK downtown in many locations to Shenzhen downtown(Wanchai/HK Island, Mongkok/Kowloon Peninsula, even New Territories) -from HK airport direct to Shenzhen, ferry about 1 hour journey+transfer to downtown Shenzhen, or bus outside airport terminal to Shenzhen downtown (frequent and about 1 hour journey)

Not exactly an answer to your question, but why are you not flying directly to Shenzhen? It's generally much less expensive than flying to HK, perhaps only though if you are connecting through a city in China. Regardless... The ferry from HK airport is the most simple direct way to go, alternatively the train (KCR) is popular if you want to go trough Hong Kong (not just the airport) on the way to Shenzhen.

Everyone has provided you with a lot of great information here !! It is true about the ferry vs. the train. However, if you like trains like I do, it is a great way to go. I took the train from Hong Kong back to Guangzhou last week. I timed the ride from HK to the Shenzhen station, where we made a brief stop, and it was about 45 mins. The train was clean and very comfortable. Enjoy Southern China !!!

Not necessarily the cheapest, but very simple and convenient, I can recommend taking one of the Coach services direct from HK Airport to your Hotel in Shenzhen... My wife and I did this on Monday... we used CTS transport services.. they have a booth amongst several other companies as you step through from Arrivals, they charged 150HK$ per person, Their Coach left promptly on the hour, and took us to the border & passport control - we had to get off off and walk through passport control leaving our main luggage on the bus, which drove through to meet us the other side, then the second time it stopped, we took all our luggage with us through customs - CTS reps intercepted us as we exited customs, to direct us to another coach which deposited us at your hotel. The whole process took less than an hour and a half (including a bit of delay while we were allocated a bus to the Hotel, and afternoon rush-hour style traffic). I would certainly use this approach again, it was remarkably well organised and executed!

just cross the shenzhen immigration/customs border and u will exit on the HK side and straight to the platoform n purchase the mass transit train tocket all the way to kowloon - just follow the crowd on clearing the border - its easy.
