I'm looking for a hotel room in beijing in the next few weeks. I've seen a post or two detailing that you can find a single for 80-120RMB per night. All I care about is that its safe and has AC. TV is nice, and location is better but I'm contented to do it on the cheap.

I stayed at a cheap hotel in West Beijing which cost about 13,000RMB for 13 nights and that was for 2 of us. It helped having a Chinese girlfriend to do the talking though.

I'm pretty sure you could get a triple with no ensuite (but yes to AC) for that price range at Xuefu Hotel in Dongcheng district. You might also want to check out Downtown Backpackers (http://www.backpackingchina.com).

I found one right nearby for about 100rmb per night. I'm not needing anything fancy, I don't need the sauna, internet access, etc.

I'd really prefer not to stay in a hostel. I've had bad experiences with backpackers over the years.
