Sorry for misunderstanding you, paul. Yes, we have our own reasons to love a team or not. Fans themselves are 'selfish'. In their eyes, the team they support and love is the best. Thus, they hate the rivals of their team. Usually, we read the report that those fans quarreled or fought with each other because they can not let others offend their team.
