Why does iPhone so popular?

I'm really confused. Why do so many people love iPhone? Someone even wait for 5 days to buy the phone. Many people take enough food and water, waitting outside the Apple Shop.

Maybe, it is like ipod. People take ipod as the symbol of fashion and status.

no doubt iPod has been mesmerising, Apple said they are going to produce iPhone version based on iPod Nano very soon
