![]() | The French Foreign Legion was established in 1831 by foreign volunteers because it was not allowed for foreigners to join the French army after the July Revolution in 1830. Originally, it was used to protect French Colonial Empire. Later, it also joined all kinds of wars, for example, the World Wars. Training for those soldiers were very hard. Violence usually happened and many soldiers could not bear it and left the army. That is said by those once served in the legion. |
