![]() | I'm planning a trip to Beijing in September, and I'm not sure what kind of visa I should apply for. On my last trip, I was still in acupuncture school and our visas were arranged for us. Now I'm trying to figure out how to do it on my own. Here's the dilemma: I'll be coming back as tourist, but I also hope to continue to shadow some of the doctors in a hospital. So, I'm not sure if I should have another student visa or a tourist visa. And if a student, how do I go about getting the approval needed? Also, I'm confused about the part of the form that asks for the name of the institution or person who invited you. Is it sufficient to make my hotel accomodations through travelchinaguide.com and get some sort of notice from them as my "chinese tour agency"? Thanks in advance for the help! |

![]() | You can apply as a tourist provided yo are not enroleld as a student and you do not want to work...keep your visits fsirly informal, you are visiting old friends. You do not need to say who is inviting you for a tourist visa, just list the towns that you expect to visit. Make sure you ASK FOR A VISA FOR A LONG ENOUGH DURATION gOOD LUCK |

![]() | By the way, how long will you prefer to stay in China? Tourist (L) visas can be extended twice, 30 days each time. If you need to stay in China mainland for more than 3 months, you'd better have your tourist visa changed to business (F) visa after you enter China mainland. |

![]() | Not sure what that means ??? Keep in mind, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security does not have anything to do with travel visas [to] China. This is solely the internal business of the PRC. The USDHS and its sub-unit, the USCIS, are only involved in visas issued for individuals wishing to enter/visit the USA. |
