This year is the 100th anniversary of the invention of helicopter. This century-old man stil exerts his strong and power influence on this tumultuous era.

In 1907, a French engeneer succeeded in piloting the first helicopter.Since then, helicopters have played an important role in the military and war history of the world.

Helicopter was initially used for air detection, and the first time whenit was applied into war was during the World War One. During the World War II, Germany used helicopters to detect on a large scale.

Helicopters just like atomic bombs also escalaed the destructive effect of war. Is it a devil? Should this 100-year-old monster be executed?

In another thread I said I used to work in the aircraft industry, it was at Btitains main helicopter makers Westland helicopters where I worked for 14 years.
I think there will always be a demand for helicopters to transport troops into remote areas.

Can helicopter become a convenient but low-cost vehicle, just like an auto in an avearage family? It will be fantastic.

I'm not sure Jimmy, they do cost a lot to run, maybe one day someone will come up with a smaller and cheaper to run, also getting a pilots licence is not easy.

I dreamt to become a pilot in my childhood. I thought that steering such a monster with wings must be wonderful.

Unfortunately, this dream has never come true. Westnorwoodgas, perhaps, you don't know how much I am jealous of you.

Leonardo, I didn't fly helicopters, my job was keeping them in the air, by ensuring the spare parts were produced on time wether it be a small bolt through to a main rotor head or even it's rotor blades.

US Attack Helicopter-One is so cool! Is there any difference between a military helicopter and a civilian helicopter?

Military helicopters are generaly bigger and obviously carry armoury, where as civilian versions usually look more attractive in design.
The demand for helicopters are more for military than civilian.

There could be a time when helecopters are used for transporting people but right now it is much too expensive. Its quite a shame too because they are so interesting to ride in.
