I will travel to Chengdu in september to meet a special lady friend of mine and was wondering about taking her a gift. What would be a suitable items to take?

Chocolate is always good. If you are talking about a formal "gift" it really depends upon your relationship. A simple necklace is a nice gift and you can pick a necklace that is suitable to the type of your relationship.

Traveldream, Davec did say that he was going to meet a "special Lady friend" Which I would assume to be code for a Lover. But I could be wrong. Dodger

Not much of a code. It is a lovely lady who I met online and have been talking with for months, we will finally meet face to face in september. I would just like to make a good impression.

Sounds a little over the top to me. Do you think I should hold back on the chocolates?

Yes, the choclates would send it a bit over the top. Everything else lookes fine to me...ha. I have had a similer experiance, but was introduced by a very long time friend to a Lady. I had forgotten the power of the flower. A gift that a Gent can give without it looking like anything but an old fashion way to say hello. Dodger.
