Additional Permit to Enter XinJiang (新疆)？

AYWHO Points: Join Date: Jul 27, 2007 Status: offline	Hi, I live in New York, and I'll be traveling to XinJiang in late August. Recently I've asked a travel agency to obtain the Chinese Visa for me. When I went pick it up, the agency told me that I already got a Visa to enter China, but the Embassy told them that I also need a permit/visa to enter XinJiang (something along this line). However, the agency wasn't too clear about that either. Does anyone know if I need any additional permit to go to XinJiang? Thanks a lot!

GURTY Points: Join Date: Feb 8, 2007 Status: Offline	I have ever heard that foreigners entering Tibet need a Tibet Permit. Have never heard that it is the same with Xinjiang.
