Traveling China and need to know which language to learn?
Jul 30, 2007 20:09
Hi all,

I am about to embark on a journy from Beijing to West China then back to Hong Kong (or something like that?!). I would like to learn the basic communication so that I can make an effort with locals. What is the most promonent language spoken? I am concerned that I leave in 9 weeks and have not really put enough effort in to communication! I know I cannot learn it all but which one to try?

Hope you can help!?

Yes, most places of China, people communicate with each other in Mandarin.

9 weeks is just enough for you to learn some basic phrases and words for communication.

Perhaps you can review other threads here in this board, I remember May001 have posted many helpful and useful threads for chinese learning.
