![]() | In recent days, some people have supported that Confucius should appear at the opening ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games because he is the representative of Chinese traditional culture. Nowadays, China has always stated to build a harmonious society. Confucius' thought is in accordance with this so he is the best spokesman for China. The Olympic Games offers the best chance to publicize Chinese culture and national image. But what is the image of China? Why not choose other historical people? Such questions have been posed by those objectors. They say that China should not just rely on those historical figures, traditional culture, Qipao, Han costumes to attract foreigners' eyes. Why not emphasize the achievements that China has scored in recent years? China has become modernized. Any comments? Should Confucius appear at the opening ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games? |
