Yes, winter is better for you to understand the mountain isolatedly. But, watch out your step while climbing!! There are people slip down the mountain every year.

How old are those footpaths/steps? Are those people just taking in the cool mountain air or on some kind of religious quest. Do all mountains in China have steps cut into their summit ridges or is it just ones near cities or ones with some cultural significance. Please tell me I won't see those sort of masses wherever I go on my 7 week trip.
