Hello,

I'm planning to go china by 20th of october to get married with my chinese finance. though we are planning to get married by december. but as far as what i've read from this forum that most probably i have to get tourist visa and extended to the max of 90 days period. i had already been to china on tourist visa 4 months back. what is the possible thing i can do to extend my visa to stay for 6 months? after we getting married do i have to change my visa to spouse visa or is there any other type of visa which i hav to get?
any help would be great help....

Thanks

I am not sure whether you can get a longer tourist (L) visa if you tell the Chinese Embassy that you are going to China to marry a Chinese.

As far as I know, if you can provide the marriage certificate, the Embassy will issue a longer L visa for visiting relatives.

There is no spouse visa in China. The only visa concerned is the L visa for visiting relatives.

You can get longer than 90 days if you exit the mainland. So apply for a multiple entry visa with each stay 90 days - that is what I am on. But they don't always grant it.

As Leeovisa implies...never provide information which is not asked for! This country more than most... there are rules to follow but if you don't say anything they won't ask.

Thanks for your reply and time. as Mr.Apault says i have to take a multiple entry tourist visa and keep on extending that every 90days or so. after i get married and get the marriage certificate by showing the certificate will i able to get more days? i was planning to go the chinese embassy and ask for some help but if the process is straight forward, i go on a visit visa and keep on extending. i'm trying to get my singles certificate / certificate of marriageability most probably this certificate is going to be in english i guess.do i really need to get a chinese version of it or can i use a transltor in china do this for me?

It would be very helpful if you and others like you who are new to this forum, would supply at least some minimal information as to your nation of origin ?? When there is nothing in the profile to indicate this and few 'clues' in the text (written English) of the message, other than the writing style, it is difficult to provide specific/applicable information.

If you are from the USA, there are some very specific steps to be taken here and at a regional PRC Consulate, prior to filing in China. If not from the USA, then there are other members herein, who are familiar with their nation's process and steps.

Document translation services are now available at most marriage offices in the PRC. I know they are available at the large civil marriage office in Guangzhou. It was about 200 RMB, as I recall and took about 30 to 45 mins.
