One million yuan (132,000 U.S. dollars) is displayed as a piece of artwork? Can you believe it? On August 3rd, it was displayed in Beijing.

One million yuan was put in a rectangular frame, each with a face value of 100 yuan. The artist calls his work as performance art and say that he will continue his money performance art in the future.

Just goes to show they will call anything art nowadays. I remember someone years ago defining art as 'something that provokes thought and debate' well, this will surely spark a debate so it must be art.

Is there anyone who suspect that all the money are fake? I read this piece of news. When asked whether they are real or fake, the artist did not give an answer. Some of the visitors wanted to touch this artwork. But the artist refused. He said that art can not be desecrated. Very interesting.

I suspect that the RMB are reproductions and are, indeed, fake. For one thing, should the Chinese government allow the "capture' of valid RMB? I don't think so. The government people have to put up some type of colletaral for money that they print. To seize (perhaps forever) 1,000,000 yuan might be against the betterment of China.
