Bridge collapse in Hunan
Aug 14, 2007 04:57
I saw on Yahoo a news item about a bridge collapse in Hunan province with at least 22 lives lost although they indicate the total could be much higher, it seems the bridge has only just been built as they were in the process of removing scaffolding.
Very sad news indeed.

I don't know why it collapsed but I heard this is the second bridge to collapse in the last few months in China.
Maybe there is a fault in the materials they are using or even badly designed, time will tell once they complete their investigations.

China has a saying of '豆腐渣工程' (Dregs of Toufu Project) to describe those unqualified architectural projects.

That's true, there had been a bridge collapsed in Guangdong, which was caused by the collision by an overweighted cargo.
Really sad to hear such news!
