![]() | August 15th 1945 is a historical occasion. This significnat day is unforgettable for anyone who loves peace. On that special day, Japan declared surrender unconditionally. That moment was imbeded in history. The world ended the bloody tumult, and regained its former tranquility. No more wars, this is the common voice of the people in this globe. No one was willing to be engulfed in the bloody, cruel and savage World Wars. Peace is costly. The cost of peace is paid by the blood and tears of tens of millions peace-lovers and martyrs. Today, August 15th 2007, is the 62nd anniversary of the vitory of World War II. While we enjoy our lives in this peaceful environment, should we forget our forefathers who have sacrificed their lives for the noble cause of peace? No doubt the answer is "No". May the painful lessons imbed in the deep of our memories for ever! May the tragic episode of history never repeat! May peace last for ever and ever! |

![]() | I agree, I hope there will never be another world war, my father was in Burma fighting the Japanese in what was known in Britain as " the forgotten army " because the war with Germany had finished, I still have his medals. |

![]() | West, I believe that your father was a great soldier. You should be proud of your father. Your father also contributed to the Victory of World War. Any one who made contributions to the peace of the world shouldn't be forgotten. So, " the forgotten army" is nonsense. We shouldn't just remember the generals. So many " INSIGNIFICANT" soldiers also deserve to be honored. Actually, the cost of peace is paid by the blood of thousands of neglected soldiers. |

![]() | Jimmy, the reason they were known as " the forgotten army " is because the war with Germany had finished and everyone was celebrating forgetting the war with Japan was still going on. I'm very proud of my late father, I still often remember his stories he used to tell me, and as a little boy I used to play war games with my friends while wearing his bush hat that he wore in Burma. |

![]() | When I was young, my friend and I found a box of hand grenades and we were throwing them at each other, lucky for us someone called the police and they stopped us, the army disposal team had to blow them up because they were so dangerous, it seems where we found the grenades there was a bomb left over from the war too, it put me off war games for awhile. I suppose the trouble I was in with my parents put paid to that too. |
