Recently, Forbes Magazine released its list of World's Most Powerful Women. Angela Merkel, the first woman to become chancellor of Germany, ranked on the top the list. Wu Yi,Chinese Vice Premier ranked No. 2 .

Forbes noted that Wu recently stared down US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson when he made myriad demands, including a revaluation of the yuan, in recent strategic economic talks with the US.

As one of the rare woman official in China's leadership, Wu gained popularity through her wisdom and strong diplomatic skills. She is nicknamed as China's Iron Lady.

As for Merkel, "She continued to impress the world with her cool leadership at two back-to-back summits," the magazine wrote. "First, she stuck to her principles, getting G-8 leaders to agree to significant cuts in carbon emissions, among other things. Merkel later corralled European Union countries into an agreement on a treaty to replace the EU constitution."

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice listed on the fourth.Britain's Queen Elizabeth was at No. 23,.US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was No. 25.

Do you like powerful women? Are they model women?

I think the most interesting thing about this list is that it is evidence that people have not fully accepted women in leadership roles. If we really did fully accept women, the list would not exist because the only list would be "most powerful PEOPLE" not "most powerful men" and "most powerful women."

But society is evolving, so it's okay that this is only as far as we have come. Women are still making progress and someday, there will only be one list.

Peterjohn, I agree with you. Forbes' list is based on the perspective of androcentrism. There is most powerful women list in the world, but seldom is there "most powerful man list". Sexism is still a problem.

Women's right to be powerful shouldn't be infringed. Women have the right to choose what they want to do. Some people argued that the relation between career and family is a a zero-sum sum. That is to say, for women, career and family can not achieve a win-win situation.
