Oct is still quite hot in Guangzhou, with little breeze in the morning.
It depends on you whether you'll spend a lot during your 2 week trip, but generally 2000~4000 yuan is enough.
You can stay at Guangzhou as long as you like before your visa expire!

If you love natural beautiful scenery, Zhaoqing near Guanzhou is the best choice I think!

Use http://www.xe.com for currency conversion.
If you're coming on a budget trip then about 250-350 RMB/day would be a reasonable amount to bring.

I agree with ELLYSE you can get by on 350 RMB/day. 350 RMB is about 40-50 USD based on the exchange rate. However, I easily spent 1000 RMB/day on my most recent trip. I did nothing exorbitant - except for 3 nights in the Tibet Hotel about $100 USD/night and one dinner in a fancy restaurant that cost 500 RMB. While I traveled with my gal, you can not cut the cost in half, except for meals.

If you plan at 350 RMB/day you'll be okay, plan any less than that and you will probably run out of money.
