![]() | Please define high prices.... I found booking air travel through this site a bit more expensive, but reliable and certainly not HIGH. So how do you define high prices......????? |

![]() | Hi there, Thanks for you reply. We have been quoted $2500 for 15 days including the locations mentioned. I am used to doing things myself and want to know if it would be better to do it yourself or save the hassle and do a tour thing. Honestly I was thinking closer to $1500 per person for a double and a little more for our third person (single occupancy). |

![]() | I suppose any agencies my fellow travelers have used that was resonably priced and with quality service. I know there are no free lunches, but I do like more bang for my buck. ; 0 ) |

![]() | I have been dealing with the people in this forum and found them very helpful. An 11 day tour including Shanghai, Xian and Beijing is probably going to be around $1300US for two adults and a bit cheaper for our daughter. The idea of being met at and delivered to airports and stations is very reassuring. Likewise a guide to sites will be much more interesting too. A very helpful lady called Vicky Dong (yahoo.com|travelchinaguide) has answered all our questions. We plan to use them and then on our free days will probably hire a local (also through this site) for shops, zoos and adventure parks. |

![]() | We are currently living and working in China but our Chinese is minimal. We never go on organised tours or pay guides, and we have been to a lot of places and seen a lot of sights. We go with Lonely Planet in hand and then moan and groan if it gets it all wrong (as is often the case!). But, mostly, we have more time than you do to see the sights. Travelling in China is often very frustrating. But it is pretty safe compared to most countries in the world, and I just prefer to do it by myself rather than pay huge mark ups on the real costs which it sounds like you are going to do. Just because something sounds pretty reasonable in price comapred to the same travel in your home country doesn't mean it is reasonable compared to the actual prices in China. |
