guestJoelle Hello everyone, I am new here and I would like to have some help concerning this please... I am planning to go to China soon and as it would be the first time that i will go there, I am afraid that I may fall ill because it happened that once when I travelled to another country, I fell ill there because of the climate, eating habits...I don't want to go through this again and that's why I would like to have a hospital directory and a pharmacy one so as not to have problems in locating the pharmacy when i'll be there if I fall ill...in fact I got a China pharmacy directory on http://www.drugdelivery.ca/directory-china.aspx but haven't come across any for hospitals...

Hi JOELLE,
Welcome to China. As I am a Chinese, I may give you some adivces. Which cities are you going to visit? The North will get cold next month, but the south will still remain hot, so if you want to visit the Northern cities, you should bring enough close to keep warm. I am from Guangzhou, if you want to visit Guangzhou, welcome to contact me, I can be your guide here. My e-mail/msn is:hotmail.com|caijun_Bill and Skype is:caijun_Bill, if you have any question, please let me know, I am willing to answer your questions as far as I know.
Best Regards.
Bill

Guestjoelle,
make sure you have travel insurance.
I had an accidant in Tiawan some time ago and spent a week in a hospital. They would not let me go untill I had payed the bill. It was US$5000.00

Only once did I fall ill while traveling and it wasn't in China; bad seafood in Portugal...but that's because I was born with a cast iron stomach.

A couple of recommendations:

You should bring a sturdy drinking container like a nalgene 1000 ml drinking bottle. Fill it with water you boiled before going to bed each night. While I've never had a problem with bottled water in China...even in the US many commercial brands are selling tap water.

Take a critical look at any food stand or restaurant before you decide to eat there.

Bring a package of imodium for intestinal distress and some asprin for fever.

Do not worry, if you are really sick, some one will help you...and if you have the insurance Dodger recommends...no worries at all.

If you tell us which cities you will travel in, some one will provide the names in Chinese and Pinyin for you.

GUEST68179 my mother has been taken to a hospital and I'm trying to locate her - I'm in Canada and am having difficulty locating a directory of hospitals in China. She was staying in Xiamen in the Fujian province and would have been taken to a hospital nearby. the phone number i have is missing a digit, I believe. What I have is: 011 86 592 229212.
please help me find the correct phone number of this hospital; I don't know the name.

Thank you!
