![]() | Do you ever read Tang poems or hear about Du Fu, Li Bai or Meng Haoran? They were famous poets during the Tang Dynasty and wrote many poems. Some of their poems aim at depicting and praising natural landscapes. Can you imagine what these landscapes look like in their poems? If not, it does not matter. Plese follow me to appreciate them. No.1 Xiling Snow Capped Mountain. A Quatrain Du Fu (Tang) A pair of golden orioles twitter in the greenish willow, A line of white herons flutter on their blue-bound way. The window frames the western mountain's thousand-year snow, By the door moor ships from Eastern Wu ten thousand li away. The western mountain in the quatrain refers to Xiling Snow Capped Mountain. It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. In winter, it is the skiing resort. In summer you can see landscalpes in four seasons. It covers a vast of verdant primeval forests and has many rare animals. ![]() |

Through the Yangzi Gorges By Li Bai From the walls of Baidi high in the coloured dawn To Jiangling by night-fall is three hundred miles, Yet monkeys are still calling on both banks behind me To my boat these ten thousand mountains away. Located in the northern bank of the Yangtze River, Baidi city in the poem is the best place to appreciate the landscape of the Qutang Gorge. In the Baidi Temple, you will see relics from the hanging caskets, steles and some other paintings and calligraphy works. In addition, you can see the hanging caskets and plank roads on the clliffs on the banks of the Yangtze River. ![]() |

A NIGHT-MOORING NEAR MAPLE BRIDGE By Zhang Ji While I watch the moon go down, a crow caws through the frost; Under the shadows of maple-trees a fisherman moves with his torch; And I hear, from beyond Suzhou, from the temple on Cold Mountain, Ringing for me, here in my boat, the midnight bell. The temple on Cold Mountain refers to the Hanshan (Cold Mountain) Temple. It becomes famous due to this poem. The bell in the temple is the mos celebrated. On the last day of the year, the bell will be rung 108 times at 12 in night. You can hear the sound far away the mountain. ![]() |

Seeing Meng Haoran off Li Bai My old friend leaves yellow crane pavilion he is going to the east Sailing to Yangzhou in March while blossoms curl like smoke on the river How far away the lone sail fading into the clear blue sky Only the Yangtze river remains it is flowing at the edge of the world. Yangzhou is a beautiful city having a history of 2500 years. The Slender Lake is the most celebrated. In addition, Yangzhou dishes are delicious. ![]() |
