Is it possible to enter China from Taiwan?

I may be traveling with my grandson in summer 05. He has friends in Taiwan. Is it possible to fly to Shanghai or Beijing. We'd eventually visit the Li River and Guilin. Any comments?

No direct flight between Taiwan and the Mainland. You should transfer at the Hong Kong, and then to Beijing and Shanghai which you want to go.
And you need to get the Tourism Visa (Visa L)before you enter the Mainland.
