ZYGOTE, you can go to Chengdu Tourist Transportation and Service Center. There you can take the regular bus to Jiuzhaigou. The earliest bus from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou leaves at 08:00 in the morning. To get to Chengdu Tourist Transportation and Service Center, you can take No.28 bus at the North Railway Station or No. 6, 8, 13, 35, 43, 48, 49, 55, 76, 82, 110, 301 in the city. I think you will find there is only one bus each day, two at the very least. It is a long trip but well worth it.
You could reak your trip in Wenchuan which is close to the Wolong Panda Reserve although is not so easy to get too with public transport.
Alternatvly take a side trip, just 20 mins Y5 from the bus station in a minivan to Taoping(See my photos- Review to come) Well worth the visitfor the day or overnight. Beware there is a gate fee of about Y60 but you can get a bed for less than Y40
