I am going to Hong Kong about the 2nd week in October. Any suggestions where I should stay with 2 girls 13 and 12yrs. We are interested in having our winter coats tailor made. We hope to get some shopping done and take in some of the highlights. Should I fetch a Cab from Airport to hotel? What is the normal fare? I also heard about the street night market. Can anyone share some information about this?
Thanks
Bootsy

Hi Bootsy,

Your girls might be interested to visit the Ocean Parks (to see the pandas) or Disneyland. For tailormade clothes except for the men's shirts, most people, i heard, go to Shenzhen (the Lowu shopping mall). Shopping spots in HK are Causeway Bay, Mongkok, even Tsimshatsui and Central. The night market is in Temple Street, Yaumatei, it's for seeing the old lifestyle and tasting open-air kind of eating, not for shopping. There is a souvenir shopping market in Stanley. With 2 girls you can take a taxi, it costs about HKD250-350 downtown depending on your location.

have a great timet!
