To visit Pingyao - Yes or No?

TOMORROWNEVE... Points: Join Date: Sep 29, 2004 Status: Offline	Ping Yao is definitly worthy visiting. You can choose train. Train No 1674/1675 leaves Datong at 16:31 arrives 00:49. No 1591/1594 leaves Datong at 20:37 arrives 4:50.

thank you: that's quite a ride. No.1591 gets in at a better time. I have heard it is hard to get a place on these trains.
Q. How early can I book a ticket and once booked is my seat assured.
Q. Are the trains ever cancelled?
Q. Can I then catch a train from Pingyao to Xi'an?
And any idea what the time departure/arrival times would be please.

DAISY Points: Join Date: Mar 30, 2004 Status: Offline	Train from Pingyao to Xian: you can take 2023, depart: 10:29 am arrive: 20:15 pm and 2535 depart: 19:46 pm arrive: 06:31 am next morning It would take you about 10 hours to get to Xian

As far as i know, there is no direct train from Datong to Pingyao on which you can get a seat.

If you arrive Datong first, you can take train from Datong to Taiyuan. The train between these two cites are frequent and the tickets are very easy to get. After you arrive Taiyuan, you can take a bus to Pingyao, which takes about one hour.

If you arrive Xi'an first, it will be more convenient for you to visit Pingyao. Just take train 2535 or 2536 which will arrive Pingyao the next day morning.
