Hong Kong to Kunming to Lijiang

guestMax	Okay guys. I currently live in Hong Kong and I'm planning a trip with a couple of my mates to go to Lijiang. Our pockets aren't very deep so I was wondering what the cheapest way to get there would be. My guess would be: Train: HK -> Shenzhen -> Guangzhou -> Kunming Bus: Kunming -> Lijiang Would you say this be the best way? If so, how much do you think it would cost? Also, how long would the travel time be? Anything more than a couple of days would be a pain.

JABAROOTOO Points: Join Date: Jul 4, 2005 Status: Offline	Try to get the train direct to Dali although the bus connection from Kunming to Dali is better these days. Then bus from Dali is just 3/4 hours

DAVEC Points: Join Date: Apr 14, 2007 Status: Offline	I have just got back from doing the same trip. HK to Guangzhou by train, stay over for 2 days, then train to Kunming, again stayed 2 days and then bus through to Dali and Lijiang. Not a complicated trip and fairly straight forward.

DAVEC Points: Join Date: Apr 14, 2007 Status: Offline	HK to Guangzhou took me about an hour and a half by train, which is a new style train and comfortable. Guangzhou to Kunming was by overnight sleeper train and took 26 hours. The bus/coach from Kunming to Lijiang took between 8 and 9 hours.
