local tour guide suggestions

hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for 3-4 star hotels near the tourist areas and a local guide for the following cities: Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Gulin/Yanshuo, and Hong Kong.

There are many great hotels in downtown Xi'an. You may check out at:

I think Bell Tower Hotel in city center might be a good choice.
