Gates presented a request for about 190 billion U.S. dollars before the Senate Appropriations Committee in an afternoon hearing on Wednesday. The fund will be used to wage the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.There is an one-third increase from the amount requested earlier this year. Some interest groups protested against the request.

It is the nature of the beast. ...but military budget requests usually mean that some government contractor is selling us $600 USD toilet seats!
